The role of the Acute Pharmacy Service is to provide a safe, effective and efficient Pharmacy Service delivering pharmaceutical care to individual patients and supplying medicines through systems which ensure safe, effective and economical use. As part of a single system pharmacy service across secondary care and the Health and Social Care partnership to deliver high quality patient services and patient experience whilst ensuring the delivery and sustainability of local and national performance indicators within allocated resources
As a result of re-structuring the senior team across the single system pharmacy service, this new post represents an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to lead and develop the medicines supply services across NHS Fife Managed services.
The Pharmacy Operations Manager will be directly accountable and responsible for the planning, development and delivery of the supply and delivery of medicines within NHS Fife including purchasing, storage and supply of medicines and both traditional and aseptic dispensing. You will also be accountable for the planning, development and delivery of an effective medicine management service throughout NHS Fife ensuring innovative systems are developed and a safe, cost effective, patient centred model is delivered.
You will provide leadership and direction to a team of Senior Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants and work in partnership with healthcare teams across primary and secondary care so that patients can access safe and effective dispensed medicines, ensuring that all, professional, ethical and legal responsibilities for the pharmaceutical care of patients receiving dispensing services are met. This will include effective and efficient utilisation of resources to deliver care which meets the 6 dimensions of quality and supports pharmacy service and organisational priorities
You will contribute to strategic and operational planning across NHS Fife pharmacy services as part of the Acute Pharmacy Management and Pharmacy Strategic Management Teams ensuring effective governance and quality improvements are in place to deliver pharmaceutical care at the highest level.
You will be an experienced Pharmacy Technician registered with the GPhC, with significant post qualification experience, who can demonstrate a high level of professional practice. You will have extensive experience and understanding of the NHS including corporate responsibility for management and operational policies, partnership and governance policies and procedures, standing financial instructions and service supplier contracts and can demonstrate an understanding of how pharmacy interlinks with other health care professionals. You must possess a Post-graduate Diploma or M/Sc in a relevant field or demonstrate evidence of knowledge, training or experience equivalent at that level.
