Payroll Senior - c.£36k + £3k bonus - Hybrid (reporting in Reading office)

To assist the Team Leader in taking responsibility for the operation and profitability of their team members and client’s, whilst balancing a client portfolio of your own - reporting directly to their Team Leader

Supporting their Team Leader with escalations of technical and commercial issues encountered within their team. Supporting accurate and timely Payroll and Pension administration for various clients in accordance with statutory regulations.

A key feature of the role will be the primary cover for the team leader for technical issues when the team leader is off. We would expect the post holder to make a positive contribution towards team meeting, and the overall future development and success of the team/office.

Beyond your own excellent payroll knowledge and client delivery responsibilities you will need to share your knowledge within the team, to motivate the team to deliver high quality work, on time. You will also possess a client/customer focus to ensure excellent service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Manage your own client portfolio
  • Completing end to end payroll processing
  • Assist with training and development of team members.
  • Compliance with Internal policies & procedures
  • service multiple clients with the focus on support of the team & the Team leader, to deliver excellent service to our clients
  • Support & cover for the team leader where they are unavailable.
  • Demonstrate company values. Setting an example for peers & new staff

Candidate Attributes

  • Strong knowledge of statutory & legislative regulations, including workplace pensions
  • An ability to communicate at all levels - both internal & external - in a prompt manner
  • Strong understanding of payroll deadlines & requirements
  • Clear & concise communication, both written & verbal
  • An ability to work independently & as part of the wider team
  • Promote client care and cascade this to the wider team
  • An ability to provide guidance and support to all team members and other teams/offices as required

  • Supporting a team approach to payroll service delivery
  • Ability to improve service and processes

  • Develop strong relationship with clients / support of clients
  • Show good working knowledge of team’s payrolls/clients

Personal and professional qualities

  • Resilience under pressure
  • Meeting tight deadlines, whilst maintaining high quality outputs in a payroll environment
  • Experience supporting team members & team leader
  • Has awareness of GDPR issues and client confidentiality
  • Minimum 2yrs experience working in a payroll environment
  • Previous client service experience (emails, telephone and face to face)
  • Experience of process review and improvement
  • Dealing with a high volume of clients
