We are currently seeking a Payroll Officer for a full-time temporary position based in Kensington and Chelsea. Key ResponsibilitiesAccurately calculate gross and net pay in line with statutory and contractual requirements.
Ensure all payroll transactions are processed on time and investigate any anomalies before finalisation.
Maintain accurate employee data including tax codes, NI categories, pension details, and payment methods.
Process new starters, leavers, and internal changes using Oracle.
Respond to payroll-related queries from employees, managers, and third parties across various communication channels.
Calculate statutory and contractual payments, including sick pay and child-related pay.
Handle voluntary and statutory deductions, including pension contributions, court orders, and salary sacrifice schemes.
Process claims for overtime, additional hours, and other pay-related changes.
Support the testing and implementation of payroll system updates and changes.
Previous payroll experience is essential
Experience using Oracle HR or payroll systems
Strong understanding of PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments, and pension contributions
Familiarity with Local Government or Teachers’ Pension Schemes is desirable
Good working knowledge of payroll legislation and best practice
Proficiency in Excel with strong numerical and analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
Local authority experience is preferred but not essential
