We are recruiting for a well-established family business headquartered in Chester, seeking a proficient and experienced Payroll Officer to join the team. This role, initially temporary, offers a strong likelihood of becoming permanent.

About the Job:
As a Payroll Officer, you will play a vital role in managing payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely payments for our employees. This is an opportunity to become an integral part of a supportive and dynamic accounts team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up new starters
  • Process and enter payroll data for monthly payrolls, covering approximately 900 employees across multiple payrolls
  • Verify time records and perform manual calculations
  • Process holiday, sick, maternity, and adoption pay
  • Manage all deductions and additions, including attachment of earnings
  • Issue P45's, P60's, and P11d returns
  • Oversee RTI and Auto-Enrolment processes
  • Liaise with employees and HMRC to resolve queries
  • Manage year-end processes and associated returns
  • Prepare payroll data information for Managers and present at inductions


About the Ideal Candidate:
To be successful in this role, you will have significant experience as a Payroll Officer, with strong system skills including Excel. You will demonstrate speed and accuracy in your work, along with a strong work ethic, organizational prowess, and multitasking abilities. Being personable and a great team player is essential.

  • Capacity to prioritize tasks and work to deadlines

Salary Range & Benefits:
The salary for this role is £28,000 - £32,000. The company also offers excellent benefits including onsite parking and a cycle to work scheme.
