There's a lot that goes into making sure everyone gets paid correctly. It's not just pressing a button once a month and you know that better than most.

You'll be joining a growing business in Hull and help keep their payroll operations running smoothly. You'll be working as part of a small, friendly finance team. This isn't an enormous, shared service centre or a rigid structure. It's a hands-on, collaborative environment where your work will genuinely make a difference.

You'll help process weekly and monthly payrolls, support with day-to-day admin and compliance, and be a key point of contact for payroll queries. There's plenty to learn and get involved with and if you're someone who likes to improve how things are done (rather than just follow the same process forever), even better.

This is an office-based role in Hull. The team works best together, in person, especially when it comes to something as important as payroll.

What you'll be doing:

  • Assisting with end-to-end payroll processing for weekly and monthly employees
  • Inputting and maintaining accurate employee payroll data (starters, leavers, changes)
  • Supporting the calculation and processing of statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.)
  • Helping manage pension auto-enrolment and contributions
  • Responding to payroll queries from colleagues professionally and helpfully
  • Preparing reports and supporting finance with payroll reconciliations
  • Assisting with HMRC submissions and payroll compliance tasks
  • Supporting year-end processes, including P60s and P11Ds
  • Getting involved in improving systems and processes over time

What they're looking for:

  • Previous experience in a payroll support role (in-house or bureau)
  • A basic understanding of UK payroll legislation and processes
  • Comfortable working with payroll systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Good communication skills
  • Discreet and professional when handling sensitive information
  • Organised and reliable, with a proactive attitude to getting things done
  • Keen to learn and develop in a supportive, fast-paced team

What's on offer?

  • An annual salary of up to £32k depending on experience
  • 28 days annual leave
  • Early finish Fridays

If you're looking to build your payroll career in a business that values accuracy, initiative, and people who care about doing things well, this is a great place to do it.
