Patent Litigation Associate

We are working in partnership with a leading, multi award winning, global law firm which is now looking to develop its intellectual property team further. The team is led by some of the UK’s market leading experts who specialise in patent litigation across both life sciences and technology. Due to a strong pipeline of work, the team is now looking to hire a Senior Associate. The focus of this role will be on patent litigation. 

You will have the chance to work on patent litigation cases in the English courts, appeal proceedings at the European Patent Office and work on multi-jurisdictional litigation. This position will be well suited to an experienced Associate that is looking to take a step up within their career, or a Senior Associate that would like to join a leading practice.  

Responsibilities:   

• Able to adapt quickly and get to grips with the technical aspects of a matter   
• Analysing Patents to identify validity and infringement arguments   
• Drafting pre-action correspondence   
• Drafting applications and their supporting evidence   
• Legal research   
• Liaising with the courts, other tribunals and with foreign counsel    
• Get involved with Business Development  
• Supporting the advocates prior to and at hearings   
• Communicating with the client as to progress of matters and to take instructions   

Requirements:   

• 6+ years’ PQE   
• A STEM degree, preferably in a life science. 
• Excellent written and oral communication skills   
• Strong technical and commercial abilities   
• Excellent organisational and time management skills   
• An understanding of working across cultural boundaries     
• Always focussed on quickly dealing with potential problems
