Packaging Technologist

The Company
Our Client’s work provides scientific, technical and legislative support to the food, drinks and allied industries worldwide. They are currently looking for a Packaging Technologist to join their Innovative Process Technologies Section.

The Position
This role would be providing technical inputs into their packaging work. The ideal candidate should have a background in packaging technology or a related discipline.

Technical delivery, under close supervision of the line manager or others within the team. This will primarily be on contract and training projects but also occasional research projects
Basic interpretation of simple results and preparation of client reports
Providing support to practical delivery on training courses
Responding to direct technical enquiries with support and oversight from line manager using information retrieved from relevant sources
Preparing simple project quotations for clients
Maintenance of packaging analytical equipment, care of packaging pilot plant and maintenance of records for business management system purposes
Assist with hygiene/good housekeeping activities

Qualifications and competencies

A graduate in a food or packaging related discipline or an equivalent qualification.

Knowledge of food packaging across multiple food sectors and multiple packaging formats is desirable (e.g. metal, paperboard and glass) but not essential
Good verbal and communication skills as this is a client facing role
Effective time management skills relating to effective delivery and business practices
Full UK/EU driving licence
Basic project management skills from recent experience
IT literate
