Packaging Controller

Role Purpose:

Accountable for the management of all aspects of packaging control competently and cost effectively; ensuring all areas of the Packaging function achieve operational objectives and achieve a 100% service level, meeting its customer forecasts. You'll forward plan the Packaging function by means of effective monitoring stock levels and usage, buying and selling of packaging, reporting, and recording of results. Continually developing packaging innovations/design to drive the business forward.

Key accountabilities & responsibilities:

To negotiate and manage the lowest nett delivered product cost for the business, without compromising on service or quality.

To maintain both stock levels and stock availability of all product packaging for the business.

Manage the life cycle of bespoke products including the sourcing, pricing, placement, stock holding and turn around.

Responding promptly to product requests, new business quotations, tenders and enquiries from the Sales team.

To Develop a strong and positive working relationship with all category suppliers.

Implement best practice at all times, continually look at innovative and enhanced ways of working to improve & better develop results.

To proactively be aware of supplier, market and competitor developments to ensure that the company are remaining competitive and at the forefront of product development.

Liaise with all associated departments to asses and manage supplier performance.

To ensure the company are meeting the best cost-effective Route to Market options, and a timely Tender management.

Health and Safety Compliance

Knowledge, understanding and enforcement of:

Health and Safety is demonstrated by compliance of all employees to all health and safety, and emergency procedures

Accident prevention strategies demonstrated by appropriate and timely hazard identification and accident reporting by all employees

Requirements of Personal Protective Equipment protocols demonstrated by correct usage of protective equipment at all times by all employees

Key skills and knowledge required: (i.e. those required to fulfil the role, including qualifications):

Previous experience within a similar role.

Experience within the fresh produce sector with knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures and technology

Excellent planning and organisational skills

Strong IT skills Experience of managing budgets

Analytical skills

Experience of using Lean techniques
