Manchester City Council are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join a well-structured and dynamic team as a Moving and Handiling Advisor. The client offers a full-time contract with an opportunity to work from home, a fair and manageable caseload and further training in your portfolio. The vacancy will be for an initial 3 - 6 months with potential for extension.

Main Duties for the Moving and Handling Advisor includes.

  • Must have accredited manual handling of people training to carry out moving and handling risk assessments in the community, hospitals and residential care and to provide training to carers and family in the use of manual handling equipment
  • Assessment of service users and carers with complex needs in relation to home environment.
  • working along side the Team Manager. Visits to residents homes will be required. To ensure collaboration with our partner agencies.
  • Experience of functional assessment experience of working with people with disabilities/vulnerable people.
  • Providing expert advice, and assessments for equipment and home modifications.
  • Supporting independence, prescribing minor aids, equipment, minor works, moving and handling plans, engaging with other services and referring on.
  • Moving and handling assessments.
  • An awareness of the importance of safeguarding vulnerable people, plus an understanding of the importance of dignity & respect when dealing with people.

To Be Successful.

  • Previous experience working as an Occupational Therapist or physiotherapist in the community.
  • The candidate must have experience in training carers/families
  • Experienced Adult Social Care OT required with minimum of 2 years' experience.
  • Must have accredited manual handling training and experience of undertaking risk assessments and training.
  • Must be Trusted Assessor Level 4 qualified or experienced in assessing for equipment and major adaptations for activities of daily living.
  • Must be used to slings, hoist, plans and training family members.
  • Must be able to hit the ground running and doesn't need upskilling.
  • Manual handling experience.
  • HCPC Registration.
  • Enhanced DBS/CRB (we can obtain for you).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Occupational Therapist Qualification
  • Car driver is essential.
