Order Supervisor

Purpose of Role

The work to electrify the Midland Main Line is a vital aspect of Network Rail's strategy to provide a safe, reliable and efficient railway. Carillion Powerlines Group Joint Venture are carrying out works to make the line completely electrified using a 25kV Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) design. Bridges and tunnels on the route will be altered or rebuilt as well as work to remodel stations and carry out line speed improvements.

We are seeking an Order Supervisor based in our Derby office, the Order Supervisor plays a key role in liaising with both internal and external customers ensuring all materials are approved and fall within the budget, and all deliveries are planned in conjunction with project programme – ensuring all orders are placed and tracked with respective operational Buyers in accordance with company procedures.

Reporting into the Materials Coordinator, the successful candidate also will reference material with design and incorporate as built data to ensure that material is suitable for construction.

Principal Accountabilities

Key areas of responsibility are :

•Ensure that all materials are ordered to specification, budgets and safety requirements.

•Preparation of Bills of quantities

•Ensure that the delivery teams are in receipt of all materials details

•Liaise with Project team/Buyers to ensure all aspects of materials are planned within specified timescales.

•Undertake role of bid engineer as required

•Produce and maintain materials programmes for each scheme

•Maintain auditable records for all materials orders.

•Maintain financial records of actual and projected costs for materials, in liaison with QS.

•Attend and provide progress reports for monthly meetings

•Manage outbased stores, ensuring all materials are recorded and registered/off charged

•Implement and oversee the running of the new material control database

•To provide detailed estimates of materials for tendering purposes.

•Implement and manage the material control procedure for all depots.

•Liaise with project engineers / clients.

•Liaise with procurement and/or suppliers to gain regular updates on live projects.

•Produce requisitions as requested and follow up on orders generated.

•Check and consolidate bills of quantity raised by design and raise any concerns via the project engineer and/or the engineering manager.

•Oversee the stores management, and processes.

•Build up a strategic stock to ensure a fast and efficient response to up and coming project works and liase with the commercial department in costing materials to projects.

•Build and maintain a materials estimating program to assist the bid team in accounting for the scheme works.

•Provide technical support for the materials in the OLEMI, UK1 and mkIII d design ranges.

•Assist the operations and engineering departments as required.
