Our client is a leading independent engineering inspections organisation, providing high-quality engineering inspections and testing services throughout the UK. The organisation’s goal is to help their commercial and industrial customers understand and meet their statuary obligations in protecting their staff, plant and assets.
The Role
To develop and implement the Inspection delivery business strategy and objectives working closely with the Heads of departments to continually review and adjust the operation strategy to fit market trends.
- Line manage and ensure efficient co-ordination of a team of home-based engineer surveyors along with office based operational staff.
- Manage efficient and effective delivery of work against company budgets for revenue and cost.
- Work closely with the company’s Sales teams; helping them to meet their commercial objectives by providing them with appropriate data and site and market intelligence.
- Work in partnership with the Technical Manager to ensure adherence to requirements of ISO17020 and UKAS accreditation. Strong analytical and project management skills.
- Liaise with customers to provide updates around inspection schedules and delivery of work. Be point of escalation for any customer issues.
- To maintain effective internal communications to ensure that all relevant persons are kept informed of objectives and performance.
Skills and Experience
Required:
- Ability to provide detailed statistical data for operational performance to all management teams.
- To have demonstrable negotiating skills.
- Be able to work under pressure and to be adaptable to daily changes in logistical operation.
- Knowledge of engineering processes and provide support and advice to the relevant persons when necessary.
- Experience of a logistics or service delivery business and a demonstrable knowledge and ability to manage a large national network of service providers taking in to account logistics and commercial viability during decision making.
- Experience in overseeing implementation of the operational strategy - In addition to guiding the day-to-day activities of an office-based operations support team.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Degree (or equivalent) level education.
- Have a high level of competency in Microsoft Office to assist in producing information for presentation to clients and internally.
- Knowledge of ISI services and where within the engineering inspection industry they are required.
- To Work with the Senior management team to continually develop and review the business strategy.
- Ability to challenge the status quo and promote ideas for improvement.
- Confident, driven and dynamic leader.
- Experience in a previous equivalent Manager Role
- Experience in managing a remote workforce.
