Nursery Nurse in Mitcham

This nursery situated in Mitcham is looking for a Nursery Nurse to join their Toddler Room. The nursery is operational all year round but is closed for bank holidays and Christmas break. They are open Monday - Friday 7:30 - 18:30 and cater for up to 70 children aged between 3 months - 5 years.

The nursery is situated within a large purpose built building, All children are supported in accordance to their individual needs and staff support them to reach their highest potential throughout their learning and development. The setting has 1 large room that is separated into areas for learning and development where all children are able to socialise. Each age group have their own rooms where the children take part in group sessions for topic work and age appropriate activities. The setting has a large outdoor space where all the children are able to explore with appropriate resources.

The position will be working with all aged children but having responsibility for the toddler within the setting. You will work alongside the other staff ensuring that the Nursery setting is run to a high standard and assisting the other staff within the room. You will be responsible for 8 key children and working with other staff to plan observe and assess for all children within the setting with your focus on Toddlers, You will need to build trusting relationships with all children parent carers.. You will need to be supportive and encouraging with children who are potty training help children make choices and become independent.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Support children with personal care routines of toilet training and independent feeding
  • Encouraging children with extending their understanding of healthy living providing them with a balanced diet and daily exercise routines.

All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • The ability to work within a team
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication skills
  • Flexible and approachable
