Interim Network Engineer

Location: London / South-East, largely remote working with occasional on-site requirement

Length: 4 Months

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Venn Group is currently supporting a local authority to recruit for an Interim Network Engineer to work on a key project to implement new internet access and WAN services for the borough.

Key Responsibilities of the Interim Network Engineer:

  • Assist in the implementation of new internet access and WAN services to a new solution consisting of:
  • New BT Internet connections at two sites
  • Two BT short haul circuits between sites with full redundancy
  • Layer 2 switching to manage failover of internet links
  • Additionally, assisting in the migration of internet and WAN connections to the new solution. This project will also require the renewal of the Public Sector Network (PSN) certification and implementing third party solutions to access GCSX data.

Key requirements of the Interim Network Engineer:

  • Firewall and router configuration (Fortinet and Juniper) experience
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP network design and implementation, including OSPF and BGP routing protocols
  • Experience of the Public Sector Network (PSN) Certification process
  • The ability to manage 3rd party suppliers
  • Experience in cutting over networks from old to new services
  • Local Government or NHS experience is desired
