Berneslai Homes has an exciting opportunity for a Neighbourhood Assistant to join their team based in Barnsley. You will be working on a full-time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £23,500 to £23,893 per annum.

The Neighbourhood Assistant?role: 

We're looking for?a Neighbourhood Assistant who will provide additional support in delivering a proactive reassuring practical and visible customer focused estate management service and make a real difference in the communities that we manage. ?  

As an integral part of the team, you’ll be supported as part of your personal growth and development to gain an in-depth knowledge and experience in key front-line elements of Housing Management, Environmental Management, Community and Tenancy Support, Community Safety, Compliance and Cohesion. 

Key duties and responsibilities of our Neighbourhood Assistant: 

  • Assist in the delivery of a highly visible, effective & proactive tenancy & estate management service 

  • Assist Neighbourhood teams in dealing with all breaches of tenancy regulations, including Anti-Social Behaviour within relevant timescales using support or enforcement interventions and services as required 

  • Provide additional support around the day-to-day management of void properties, working with partners and teams to ensure properties are let as soon as possible to achieve key performance targets 

  • Assist in the monitoring of new tenancies and initiate any actions necessary in accordance with procedures 

  • Assist Neighbourhood Teams in identifying vulnerable clients by the completion of support checklists and action plans, either at sign up or whenever support issues become apparent Support the Lettings Service in assessing applications to the Housing Waiting List and effective operation of the Lettings Policy, to ensure best use of housing stock and sustainability of local communities 

  • Provide additional support and work with community groups and representatives to agree local priorities in the area (e.g., Tenants and Resident Associations, Your Community Your Say groups, Tenant Voice Panel) 

  • Assist in providing tenancy related support and making appropriate internal and external referrals 

  • Work with relevant service providers and the community to ensure a shared responsibility for the maintenance of the environment 

  • Assist in organising and supporting the community with regard to minor environmental clean-up campaigns Participate in estate inspections including Independent Living Schemes and communal areas to complete and monitor action plans and make referrals to other service providers where necessary 

  • Develop a thorough local knowledge of residents and community issues 

What we’re looking for in our Neighbourhood Assistant: 

  • 4 GCSE’s (Grade A-C),?or?equivalent qualification?or?relevant experience 

  • Experience of social housing, including estate management and tenancy Management or Community Safety related work 

  • Experience of working with software applications including Microsoft office and bespoke IT Systems 

  • Ability to travel as necessary to meet the needs of the post
