Teamwork Partnership is currently recruting experienced National Transport Manager for one of the clients to be responsible for the Transport operation from both a strategic leadership of the department but also the day to day, making best use of the team and resources to ensure a safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of expectations.

The right candidate should have the following:

  • A strong people manager, you will possess proven ability to listen to and influence peer group and department team members to build and lead effective working teams.
  • Possessing strong working knowledge of transport legislation and logistics, you will be confident guiding, coaching and managing a Fleet Team.
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to analyse data and interpret information effectively to continuously improve the department.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • IT literate.
  • Financial knowledge covering budget forecasting.
  • CPC Qualified

Job Description:

  • Overall accountability for the fleet and colleagues who sit within this business area, both wholesale and retail home delivery service. On the wholesale side of the business there are circa 170 vehicles/6 day operation carrying in excess of 180m units per year. Within the retail home delivery service there are circa 400 drivers delivering to our most vulnerable patients and customers daily across a predominately weekday operation.
  • Devising the network strategy for Transport will be using a mix of Partners, couriers and own fleet.
  • Management of our agency partner who provide and manage our Lexon fleet of c. 170 vans
  • Managing the operation, in a safe and legal manner, regarding maintenance, driver hours and the legal operation of a road fleet.
  • Be the owner of data and MI within the transport team, liaising with relevant IT SMEs to build on existing MI and look to continuously improve to drive more insight to ultimately produce efficiencies and allow the business to make informed decision surrounding transport.
  • Finding opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiencies across the transport division.
  • Ownership of the courier relationship, including contract negotiations and account management, ensuring the right courier is aligned to the relevant transport channel.
  • Interfacing with the sites customers and dealing with contract partners.
  • Seeking opportunities to drive the transport operation forward with a focus on capacity management - ensuring we have the required capacity for current and future growth volumes.
  • Working with key stakeholders & SMEs to implement change ahead of growth
  • The post holder will be expected to adopt a "Safety First" mindset reflected across their team. Operating withing industry regulations for MHRA and GPHC, CPC & H & S legislation.
  • Monitor internal data and trends to identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure the Fleet team build and maintain good working relationships with Depot Managers, to ensure driver behaviours are addressed when this impact upon customer and/or transport operation.
  • Cost control to budget and timely submittance aligned to business requirements.
  • To support site initiatives and collaborating with relevant depot management teams.
  • Ensure, by continuous assessment that compliance to Operating Procedures and relevant legislation takes place.
  • Work alongside Health & Safety to identify and introduce any new H&S legislation.
  • Management of the overall Fleet budget including regular meetings with suppliers to continuously review.
  • Ensure efficient and effective route planning, ensuring route optimisation savings are achieved, all routes profitable, with as little environmental impact as possible, and optimal service levels are maintained.
