Impact Recruitment are activiely seeking a skilled and experienced Mobile Technician for LGVs or HGVs to join a team based in Northampton. As a Mobile Technician you will be responsible for performing maintenance, servicing, and repairs on HGVs at various customer sites, ensuring that vehicles are safe, roadworthy, and compliant with regulations.

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 (Depending on experience)

Location: Midlands

Hours: Rotational (6am - 2pm & 2pm - 10pm)

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine inspections and diagnostic tests on HGVs to identify faults and mechanical issues.
  • Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance tasks to ensure optimal vehicle performance and longevity.
  • Perform repairs and replacements of defective components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic systems, using diagnostic equipment and technical manuals.
  • Complete accurate and detailed service reports, including parts used, labour hours, and work performed.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to explain repair recommendations, obtain approvals, and provide updates on service progress.
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines and company procedures at all times, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the mobile service vehicle and equipment.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an HGV technician or diesel mechanic, preferably in a mobile servicing role.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualifications in HGV or LGV maintenance.
  • Valid Class 1 or 2 licences.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to efficiently identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment, including computerized diagnostic software.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.
  • Flexible approach to work, with the ability to work independently and travel to customer sites as required.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer service.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance standards in the automotive industry.
