The Ocado General Merchandise (GM) business is expanding rapidly, growing ranges and launching new specialist websites, enabling us to offer our customers the ultimate one stop shop. We are looking for an individual who will thrive and develop themselves in this fast moving and ever evolving environment, working on our destination sites and Ocado’s General Merchandise range.
The Merchandise Planner:
Members of the Merchandise Planning team are constantly encouraged to identify and challenge inefficient ways of working and strive to share best practice across the team. The Merchandise Planner must be a self-starter, with high levels of energy, enthusiasm and flexibility to adapt to the constantly changing needs of the developing business. The ability to work unsupervised, and communicate effectively within a wider team, both internal and external to the Ocado business are also essential. The successful applicant will be highly numerate, with a preferred background in demand forecasting, inbound volume planning, general merchandise trading, and/or logistics management. They will also have an eye for detail, be highly organised and able to manage and prioritise a busy workload. The Merchandise Planner will not have any line manager responsibilities.
Primary Job Purpose:
The GM Merchandise Planner role forms an integral part of our trading "pods", alongside our Buying and Web trading teams. The pod is jointly responsible for our two primary trading KPIs - average transaction value and trading margin. The forecasts, stock management and clearance activities performed by the Merchandise Planner are likely to be determining factors for these two KPIs.
