Membership Development Manager

Hybrid/Remote with UK Travel

Basic Salary £35,000-£40,000 dependant on experience plus excellent benefits

An excellent opportunity for a Membership Development Manager to join one of the leading global professional membership bodies in the science, engineering, and technology sectors.

Objective

The Membership Development Manager (MDM) focusses on the development of our current and future membership pipeline. The MDM reports directly to the Director of Membership & Professional Standards working closely with the wider Membership Team. With a variety of routes to membership, the option of professional registration and progressive qualification and the diverse disciplines that exist in materials science and engineering, every candidate and their route to membership is unique.

Responsibilities

Developing the current and future membership pipeline

Supporting university and employer leads

Supporting affiliated local societies and the conference team with membership outreach activity

Selling the benefits of membership to new members, including progressive qualification and professional registration

Advising individual candidates on routes to membership through face to face and online clinics

Maintaining and delivering workshop content for candidates preparing to sit professional review

Developing the mentor community

Providing support to boards and committees including secretariat duties for the student and early career committee

Promoting member activity and encouraging wider volunteer engagement

Supporting the accreditation of University courses and company training schemes

Person specification

Administration and IT skills including setting up and hosting online content

Good organisation and time management skills

People focussed, with an ability to communicate internally and externally through a variety of means

Ability to travel across the country either by public transport or own vehicle

Team player

Ability to work flexibly to accommodate evening meetings

Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously to tight deadlines

Knowledge of the education system

Commercial awareness

Qualifications and experience

Bachelor's or Master's degree in science or engineering

Chartered Engineer status (or working towards this)

Evidence of technical and people skills gained in industry or education

Excellent communication and project management skills

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
