Job Title: Medical Secretary

Location: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust

Hours: 37.5 hours 8am - 4pm

Trust Location: Queens Medical Centre/Nottingham City Hospital, NG7 2UH

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Accurately transcribing (audio typing) from Winscribe digital dictation and Winscribe Speech Recognition digital dictation, outpatient clinic letters and miscellaneous clinical correspondence to a high standard with specified timescales
  • Use judgement and initiative to prioritise the importance/urgency of particular requests within defined guidelines
  • Ability to exchange sensitive or contentious information with diplomacy and in a confidential manner
  • Liaising with clinical staff to make sure letters are authorised and sent in a timely manner

Just to let you know that Winscribe is the software that we use, this is where the dictations get uploaded onto.

You'll learn the following whilst working at the trust:

  1. An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS
  2. Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times
  3. A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation

You'll have the following skills/experience:

Skills:

  • Excellent telephone manner.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Excellent IT and Typing skills.
  • Audio typing skills/Med Sec experience would be desirable.
  • Understand medical terminology would be desirable.

This role may require you to show evidence of vocational level 3 qualification or at least 2 years relevant experience.
