Mechanical Engineer

Start date: ASAP

Location: Cambridge 

Salary: £38-42k

Hours: 8-4.30pm hybrid role 37.5 hours a week

Our client is dedicated to innovation and customer satisfaction in an electronics manufacturing environment. As they embark on an exciting phase of growth, they are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join their Engineering Development team in Cambridge.

The Role:

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the New Product Development projects. Your responsibilities will include conducting research, analysing problems, and providing innovative solutions throughout the design, development, prototyping, qualification, and launch phases. A solid understanding of electronics would advantageous for this role. 

Responsibilities:

  • Complete project documentation to support the stage gate development process.

  • Generate CAD models and drawings across various project stages.

  • Develop detailed test plans and collaborate with the development team to evaluate and enhance designs.

  • Support the production introduction of new product offerings.

  • Provide technical expertise in the development of new products.

Qualifications and Experience:

The successful candidate will hold a degree in a relevant engineering discipline. While previous professional experience is desirable, we welcome applications from candidates at the early stages of their careers

  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.

  • Proficiency in 3D design software, preferably Solidworks.

  • Strong communication skills to articulate technical ideas effectively.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with FEA simulation packages for product analysis.

  • Understanding of electronics/electrical design principles.

  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards (e.g., IP ratings, ATEX).

  • Hands-on experience in prototype assembly and testing. 

  • We are seeking a proactive individual who thrives both independently and within a collaborative team environment.

  • Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously are essential attributes for this role.
