Job Purpose:

The Manufacturing services engineer’s prime responsibility is to deliver, maintain, support and develop business critical manufacturing systems within all areas of manufacturing at Aston Martin as part of a team. You will also work with the manufacturing business to understand and interpret their future needs, providing support through idea, definition, implementation, and the post implementation phases. This will be achieved through the development of unambiguous, prioritised requirements; identifying risks; objectively evaluating solution options against requirements; as well as assessing the impact of change and facilitating the decision-making process.

This is a 6 months fixed term contract required to support 2 shifts in the afternoon, from 2:00 PM to 1:00 AM, Monday to Thursday.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of the role are to ensure the manufacturing team can operate efficiently and effectivity with the systems tools that are available to support them. This will involve management of the day-to-day maintenance and support of these tools alongside project work to improve the business tools used by the manufacturing team. Project work will involve investigating business needs and problems, capturing requirements for business improvements, and translating these into solutions that align with business goals and strategy. Through research and consultation with business stakeholders, you will build up a solid understanding of how the business is currently operating and carefully analyse the information to identify the best way to support and improve the business. You will contribute to the development of business cases and to implementation planning.

  • The Manufacturing services engineer will be an IT SME for manufacturing systems and interfaces to these systems.
  • This role is a hands on job, you will be dealing with issues first hand on a regular basis.
  • You will work with application providers and/or an internal team to develop, install, maintain and support manufacturing solutions.
  • With support from a Test analyst, guide and work with test teams, coordinate user testing, take an active role in testing, issue resolution and retesting.
  • You will ensure solutions integrate with AM policies, business processes and standards.
  • You will identify training needs, support the documentation of training material and delivery of user training.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Considerable experience of working in a similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • A general understanding of all business areas and processes that support manufacturing.
  • Experience of delivering projects and/or being part of a project team.
  • SQL Server database experience involving both query and use in a manufacturing environment,
  • Understanding of relational databases, T-SQL scripting, database normalization best practices, database technologies and concepts
  • Proficient with SQL – ability to write and troubleshoot SQL code and design (stored procs, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints)
  • Basic Windows Servers management knowledge for both physical and virtual servers.
  • Creation and maintenance of Intranet based content including web server-based pages, SQL queries and other SharePoint based material.
