Manufacturing Engineer

Salary: up to £40,000 DOE

Location: Wrexham

Days Only (Mon-Fri)

gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a Manufacturing Engineer to work at their facility based near - Wrexham.

Performance Objectives

  • Manufacturing engineering responsibilities will include production tooling jig, fixture design & manufacture.
  • Complete product manufacture costing/estimating, generated from sales enquiries.
  • Provide technical engineering support for all business functions through to the management of engineering projects.
  • Working with the team to drive continuous improvement using appropriate tools such as SPC, PFMEA, DoE, Pareto Analysis, etc., to achieve overall business objectives of process/material cost reduction, waste reduction, quality improvement and lead time reduction.
  • To assist in the development of standardised operating procedures
  • To investigate flow/workplace organisation (plant layout, 5S, etc.) plant wide and make recommendations for improvement.
  • To liaise with contractors & or suppliers to manage production projects.
  • Undertake root cause analysis and work with other team members in developing appropriate training for all personnel to ensure that route causes are found and eliminated.
  • Work closely with Production Managers and Supervisors to help with everyday production/quality problems.
  • Work to pre-agreed objectives and targets, as determined by the Engineering Manager and in line with business objectives.
  • To be committed to a 5S method of working ensuring a well organised, neat and tidy working environment.
  • To always adhere to Health & Safety, Environmental Statutory and Company Rules & Regulations.

Person Specification

  • Ideally Degree level qualified (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline (ideally mechanical engineering)
  • Previous experience with design and production of tooling jigs desired.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skill and preferably a basic knowledge of business finance and accounting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • High level of proficiency in MS Office
  • Experience in the use of CAD, preferably Solidwork's or AutoCAD
  • Experience of working from own initiative
  • You will have a high level of adaptability and the ability to grasp key technical concepts quickly and thoroughly.
  • You will thrive in a team environment and can successfully build relationships across functions.
  • You will be enthusiastic, proactive and demonstrate a can-do attitude.
  • You will be a logical and structured problem solver, looking beyond the obvious to identify solutions for customers.
  • You will demonstrate a flexible and adaptable approach with the ability to embrace change and successfully work in situations where there is ambiguity.
  • You will be tenacious in your approach to problem solving and delivering results.
  • You will be highly results focussed and self-motivated.
  • You will hold the health and safety of yourself and all staff in the highest regard.
