Job Title: Loss Prevention Officer

Reports to: Loss Prevention Supervisor

Elmsall, Pontefract - WF9

£8.40 per hour

36 Hours per week covering a mixture of days, nights and weekends

Cordant Security are currently looking for Distribution loss Prevention Officers in the Elmsall (WF9) area. Interested candidates must have a valid frontline SIA licences/SIA training certificates


  • Ensure the safety and security of people, premises and property
  • Access & Egress control
  • Random staff searches
  • Patrols of the inside and outside of premises
  • CCTV monitoring
  • Gatehouse & reception duties

Gatehouse/ Reception Duties:

Responsible for the control and monitoring of all access to site by employees, visitors, contractors and vehicular traffic.


Search cabs of contractors/distribution/employee vehicles, Check persons on site/leaving site for unauthorized possession/removal of company property to comply with company search policy and procedures

Fire/intruder/CCTV/Access Systems:

Monitor systems and respond to any activation's or incidents. Liaise with fire brigade, police or security/site management in compliance with company and departmental guidelines.


Provide a constant security presence in the warehouse buildings by patrolling all areas when the warehouse is occupied. Perform external patrols of the warehouse during times when it is closed or at times dictated by security management. Conduct when required a full fence/perimeter check. Check the security of parked vehicles and trailers in the vehicle yard.


Write legible, detailed and comprehensive reports and give statements on any incident witnessed or reacted to. Complete various and detailed specific reports for use by Loss Prevention or site management.

Health & Safety:

All employees are responsible for the Health & Safety of themselves as well as others at all times. You must ensure a flexible and common sense approach. If you see any type of hazard, deal with it immediately or if appropriate, report it to someone in a senior position. Ensure through good communication and personal example that employees understand the objectives of the Next Safety Document. Help assist in undertaking and reviewing risk assessments for their departments in accordance with the current regulations. Help undertake regular Health & Safety inspections with Managers for the department to ensure the Health & Safety and welfare of employees. Help undertake accident investigations with the assistance of the Health & Safety Departments as and where necessary and to help implement appropriate preventative action.

Essential Criteria:

Basic numeric and literary skills.

Works quickly and accurately.

Works well under pressure.

Requirements of the Distribution Security Officer:

  • Fully comprehensive 5 year work/education history
  • A full UK driving licence and access to transport is desirable due to the sites you may be asked to cover
  • Clear communication
  • Excellent customer service & administration skills
  • Experience in a similar role
