Logistics Manager - West London - Salary £50,000 - £55,000 Plus Bonus & Benefits

This superb world leading organisation in West London has an automated, high speed production environment which is supported and complimented by their internal Logistics team & Drivers that provide a safe & efficient delivery service to their clients across London & the Home Counties.

Now seeking a motivated Logistics Manager with experience of managing a large/complex Logistics function with a sizeable team of Delivery Drivers. You will need to be a natural organiser, able to communicate and influence others, with the ability to identify and action opportunities for performance improvements and cost savings across the Logistics/transportation service.

Role responsibilities and summary

Lead, manage and develop the logistics service & team to achieve the Site & wider business objectives.

Work closely with the production team to continuously improve customer service excellence through the logistics department, ensuring distribution maximises efficiency and economy.

Actively improve people development within the team, instilling and developing a lean culture.

Ensuring all vehicles and drivers are operating legally within licence, site, UK & EU regulations & requirements.

Undertaking & monitoring Logistics metrics - analysing results and ensuring when/where required, that corrective actions are implemented to continuously improve the working environment.

In conjunction with the customer account teams, ensuring risk assessments are undertaken and implemented on customer premises when required.

Investigate, analyse and implement corrective actions utilising systems i.e. Telematics & Dynamics to resolve logistics issues & problems, eliminating inefficient supply and distribution routes, improving quality of service, reducing customer item losses and continuously developing & improving working practices.

Planning, organising and co-ordinating the resources required to meet logistics needs of the business, including temporary workers when required.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience of managing complex Logistics / transportation functions.
  • Are committed to delivering high quality logistics services and actively work with your teams to share what "Great Logistics" looks like and how each team member contributes to that success through their daily work.
  • Excellent communications and people management skills.
  • Experience of leading, managing, improving and evolving large teams including management of absence, disciplinary and grievance as & when required
  • Enjoys the ability to identify and inspire change/improvement across Logistics, for the benefit of the company, the team and the customers.
  • Has a good understanding and ability to train Health and Safety, together with undertaking driver assessments
  • Able to propose, track and work to department budgets
  • Are focused on providing a quality service and ensure all Drivers provide excellent levels of customer service.
  • Have good attention to detail - able to use information & data to drive Continuous Improvement
  • Contributes to the reduction of logistics environment impact, through ensuring optimal efficiency and economy on all routes, working to improve targets per mile/km.
  • Knowledge or experience of Six Sigma or other Lean tools is useful
