About the Team:
The General Counsel`s office provides advice to Telefonica UK ("O2") and its subsidiaries. Our guiding principle is the delivery of timely and consistently high quality legal and regulatory advice. We pride ourselves on helping to identify and manage risks and assisting in the exploitation of commercial opportunities.

Your Role:

This is an exciting role for a privacy professional to report into the Head of Data Protection & Privacy in the General Counsel`s Office. The role will focus on data protection and privacy compliance and strategy across O2. With a wide range of products and propositions considered at O2, this is a diverse and challenging role which offers the opportunity to work with colleagues in both the Legal & Regulatory function and across the business to develop and implement O2`s privacy strategy and direct on data protection compliance.

Responsibilities:

-Enabling the development and execution of data driven business initiatives while ensuring compliance with data privacy and information security laws.
-Guiding and effectively counselling multiple clients to ensure that privacy and data protection risk is managed effectively, including in the following areas:
-Mobile apps and services, digital marketing, marketing and sales activities, new products and services.
-Management of data incidents and support of O2`s data breach response readiness program
-Supplier, partner and customer contract support, including review and negotiation of privacy and security terms.
-Updating and developing new policies, procedures, and guidance documents as needed across functional areas of O2.
-Support of projects to ensure that privacy implications of information management are addressed.
-Conducting factual investigations and privacy impact assessments of how O2 obtains, uses, stores and shares personal information across a data lifecycle.
-Responsibilities will include legal support to workstreams and processes relating to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
-Educating clients and colleagues in the Legal team through targeted training and awareness programs.
-Assist clients and colleagues in the Legal team in evaluating impact of privacy laws, regulatory guidance and enforcement actions, and other related guidelines on products and propositions.
-Participate in the development and management of O2`s strategy relating to privacy and information management.

Skills & experience:

The candidate would need:

-To be a qualified lawyer (preferably with in-house experience) with:
-0-5 years qualified.
-Demonstrable and considerable experience in advising clients in matters relating to data protection & privacy law
-ability to juggle conflicting client demands
-strong background in commercial law and contract law
-a genuine interest in technology and telecommunications
-excellent drafting skills
-ability to provide clear advice confidently to all levels, including leadership team
-ability to advise cross-functional teams
-highly commercial, able to see the bigger picture
-an understanding of business models commonly adopted in the telecoms industry

Grade: PCGU
