Are you passionate about supporting students with learning difficulties and cognitive challenges? We are seeking a reliable and knowledgeable Learning and Cognition Teaching Assistant to join our partner school in Peterborough. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with students, teachers, and other professionals to implement effective strategies and interventions that promote academic progress and enhance the learning experience for students with diverse needs.

Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with learning difficulties and cognitive challenges.

• Assist students in accessing the curriculum, adapting teaching materials, and implementing individualized learning plans (ILPs).

• Implement evidence-based strategies to support memory, attention, executive functioning, and other cognitive skills.

• Collaborate with teachers and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to create inclusive and differentiated lesson plans.

• Support students in developing effective study skills, organization, and time management techniques.

• Implement assistive technology and specialized resources to enhance learning and accessibility for students with cognitive challenges.

• Monitor and track students' progress, collecting data and providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.

• Collaborate with other professionals, such as educational psychologists or speech and language therapists, to implement personalized interventions.

• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting self-esteem and independence among students.

• Attend relevant training sessions and professional development opportunities to stay updated with best practices in learning and cognition support.

Requirements:

• Experience working with young people with learning difficulties and cognitive challenges, preferably within an education environment.

• Strong knowledge of learning theories, cognitive development, and evidence-based interventions.

• Familiarity with a range of learning difficulties, such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, or autism spectrum disorders.

• Understanding of differentiated instruction and the ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual needs.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.

• Empathy, patience, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.

• Organizational skills to manage multiple students and prioritize tasks effectively.

• Proficiency in using assistive technology and educational software is advantageous.

Additional Information:

• Working hours are Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 15:30, term-time only.

• The successful candidate may be required to attend training sessions or meetings outside of regular school hours.

• A valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be required.
