Denholm are delighted to be working with one of the UK's leading agencies who bring ideas and technology together to power brands and businesses. Think agency Creative, Strategy, Media, PR and Data/CRM all working side by side, solving problems as one collaborative team with the client.

This 8-month Fixed-Term Contract will be to join their embedded agency model, working with a major High Street bank. Their innovative model provides clients with a dedicated on-site creative and production team, delivering high quality, large volume, fast turnaround creative solutions across all channels. Right now, they're seeking a dedicated Lead Email Marketing Developer to answer the call of an in-demand service and deliver for a big client over the long-term.

What you'll be doing

As their new Lead Email Marketing Developer you'll come with strong understanding of HTML5 and CSS, as well as experience with email marketing platforms such as Stensul, Email for Taxi, Pure360, Adobe Campaign or Salesforce. You'll be passionate about email and comfortable communicating with colleagues and stakeholders alike, pushing back if necessary and being both hands-on and strategic.

You will keep an eye on trends within the channel and support the team on how to develop and deliver innovative campaigns through the use of new technology or integration of HTML5 elements, within the clients email templates.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Leadership - essential to give clear, decisive, and thoughtful direction on individual projects.
  • Strategy & Best Practice - leading design and build best practice, consulting with teams in the agency to ensure practices are adhered to, pushed, and developed over time. Strategic input on comms content and journeys with other channel touchpoints like landing pages and prompts, where applicable.
  • Support - supporting Producers and Creatives with the clients' email build tool, processes, continual training, data processes and set up, adding value with producer training on analytics and reporting working with scrums to inform future briefs.
  • Technical - championing accessibility and technical updates which pertain to email templates design such as Dark mode and litmus testing. Working with Email Developer to ensure principles are applied.
  • Maintenance - project managing client requests for maintenance and future template build requests, through Creative Team and Email Developer.
  • Client Email CMS Supplier Liaison - instigating supplier meetings to ensure the platform is supporting requirements to deliver creative briefs and future plans.
  • Line Management - Working with and managing Email Account Manager and Email Team Developer within the T&Pm Email Team.


Who we're looking for

  • Very good understanding of UX and UI Principles.
  • Extensive knowledge of HTML, CSS and ability to create HTML emails from scratch.
  • Deep understanding of email design, user experience best-practice, email build tools and data segmentation.
  • Deep understanding of email best practice from both a coding and design perspective.
  • Advanced, hands-on user experience of a range of email channel tools including Litmus, Email on Acid and ReturnPath.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Photoshop, XD and Dreamweaver), Figma, Adobe Campaign Classic and/or Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Solid experience of email CMS builders.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, self-motivated.
  • Collaborative team player, open minded, sociable, transparent.
  • Good awareness/understanding of campaigning and business outcomes.
  • Gathering information from a range of different sources and in several ways with the ability to then analyse data and recommend the best route forward.
  • Attention to detail, especially in relation to content.
  • Collaborative team player, open-minded and transparent.
