This opportunity is to start is to start from the beginning of January 2018 until 1st April 2018 with the possibility of a month’s extension.
The successful applicant will be working alongside a variety of Educational professionals to participate in the implementation and development of the relevant government/Department of Education Guidance regarding the Education of looked after children.
You will help raise the attainment and achievement of looked after and UASC students, working directly with the students who may have learning, social, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties. You will also be responsibility to facilitate and chair personal education plans meetings for looks after pupils and collate and interpret pupil progress data to inform service delivery.
The main job responsibilities will be:
- To work directly with UASC and pupils in Key Stages 3 within a variety of settings- providing bespoke packages of support, as agreed with the professional network around the young person
- Under the guidance of the Head of the Virtual School, to regularly review and evaluate the support packages being delivered, assessing the impact of the intervention
- Work with individuals, groups or classes, as required.
- Collate and analyse pupil progress data, and produce reports for the Virtual School Head
- Attend pupil progress meetings with the Virtual School Head
- Facilitate and chair PEP meetings for Brent UASC and looked after pupils
- Deliver training as required
- Attend multi-agency meetings as required
- Maintain electronic records in line with service requirements
- Liaise regularly with designated teachers, social workers, carers and others in the professional network, as required.
- Participate in induction, regular supervision, training and ongoing professional development
- Keep up to date with relevant legislation, particularly that relating to curriculum changes
The Successful Candidate will:
-Degree + PGCE or equivalent
-Trained Teacher Status
-Demonstrates knowledge of the National Curriculum / SEN Code of Practice and other relevant legislation.
-Strong knowledge of the complex difficulties facing children looked after, their carers and their natural parents
-Ability to communicate and liaise effectively with a range of other professionals in the field
-Previous experience of working with children with challenging behaviour.
