The William Hare Group is a world-leading steel business, providing value engineered steel solutions to some of the world’s most innovative and sustainable construction projects. 

Overview: 
As an IT Support Engineer Apprentice. your role is to supply 1st Line Support for the IT Department. 
Take calls and be the initial contact for the IT department, Have knowledge of fault diagnosis on hardware and software.

Salary: 
Will be dependent on National Minimum Wage between £14,900 - £18,500 per annum, dependent on the employer. 

Main Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Take 1st line calls 
  • Fault diagnosis on hardware and software, assist with the unified communications deployment  
  • Be responsible for logging customer queries, escalating complex queries to Engineers 
  • Communication both written and orally - relaying complex queries to seniors 
  • Build and installation of hardware and software 
  • Installation and deployment of the unified communications systems 
  • Be flexible, to work additional if required 
  • Be able to travel to visit other business premises 
  • Gradually be exposed to other areas of IT within WHG 

Desirable skills: 

  • Strong communication 
  • Experience using computers and various software packages would be an advantage 

Personal qualities: 

  • Team player 
  • Desire to learn and evolve your IT skills 
  • Confident 

Entry requirements: 

  • 3 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working week: 36hrs a week.
