IT Project Engineer

Focus Group Recruitment have the pleasure with working alongside market leading IT Managed Service Provider. My client are the UK leaders within multiple sectors.

The Role

Due to planned growth and business requirements, we are now seeking a strong Project Support Engineer with some site visits when required to join the dynamic service desk teams. The business has grown from strength to strength in the 20 plus years it has been running and has experienced strong growth and stability.

To plan and implement all project activities throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring project objectives are met and smooth transition to the service desk.

Duties required for this role include:

  • Understand and provide the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables.
  • Understand the definition of the required implementation tasks and resource requirements.
  • Understand and assist in the development of all project plans.
  • Understand and assist in the planning of project timelines.
  • Implement the Project Implementation work, ensuring all activities are actioned in line with project plans and timelines.
  • Track and update project activities and deliverables using appropriate tools.
  • Constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders.
  • Escalate when the project is at risk of not delivering to the agreed requirements or timescales.
  • Managing client expectations through clear communications.
  • Take responsibility for own continual professional development, ensuring up to date industry and technical knowledge.
  • Create and maintain customer specific infrastructure documentation.
  • Undertake all other reasonable requests.
  • Where required you may be asked to help provide support to the Service desk and Field Teams, where the additional following responsibilities would be expected:
  • Manage and work to internal and customer SLA’s, escalating any concerns.
  • End to end ownership of problem resolution.

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have 2 Commercial years of experience as a Project Engineer with strong MS Technology background and solid Field Support experience due to client visits for projects when required. This is a great opportunity for a Project Engineer to join a dynamic and forward-thinking team.

Experience of managing or supporting projects.

Experience of working in a customer facing role

Familiar with working to SLA’s to meet both customer and contract requirements

Working as part of a wider service delivery function.

Supporting multi-site clients.

You will have solid knowledge of the following:

  • MS Windows Server Technologies
  • Exchange Technologies
  • Active Directory
  • Firewalls, Router & VPN Technologies
  • Experience of managing or supporting large scale projects.
  • Office 365
  • VMWare
  • Microsoft Azure

Solid experience as a Field based engineer supporting SME’s.

Install, configure, troubleshoot issues, decommission & make recommendations for upgrade using:

  • All MS Windows Server Platforms
  • All SBS Platforms
  • All MS Exchange Technologies
  • MS365, O365, Sharepoint, Teams
  • Azure configuration and migrations
  • Apple Technologies
  • Android & Windows Mobile Technologies

PC/Server Hardware - upgrade, both hardware and firmware. Raid configurations, iLO.

AD - configure sites and services, resolve issues.

DNS - running through the DNS structure to ensure domain entries exist for DC's, moving external DNS services around to different IP's when internet changes.

Firewalls, Routers & VPN’s - install, configure & troubleshoot.

The Location:

The role is based in the HQ in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire and site visits when required for project work within commutable distance.

Salary: £35,000 + £4,000 Car Allowance + great benefits including, contributed pension scheme, 20 days + 8 days bank holidays
