IT Lead - Infrastructure

IT Lead/ Senior Infrastructure Engineer required to join a growing financial organisation in Edinburgh.

The Company:

Based in Edinburgh, they are a small financial organisation that are going through a technical upgrade. Around for 50 years, they are well established and hiring this new role into the team.

They are only around 25 people across the business, but punch well above their weight. They provide pension services across the UK and have a great track record in doing so. They treat their employees extremely well and a number of their employees have been there for 20+ years. They are based in central Edinburgh, and this role is a hybrid position - 2 days a week in office at least. On top of this, you will be rewarded handsomely with a yearly bonus, private healthcare and strong pension.

The Role:

A newly created role for the company, you will be taking over ownership of all IT responsibilities for the business. This is an IT Lead role, and not a manager position. This role requires strong technical IT knowledge across IT infrastructure as a whole. Currently, a lot of the IT work is outsourced to an MSP, and they would like you to take on some of that work, whilst still having a relationship with these businesses.

You will be responsible for the IT Infrastructure of the business, aiming to run a seamless IT estate. You will help to shape and implement the IT strategy. You will have responsibilities for Infrastructure Management, Security and Compliance and Vendor management, to name a few. On top of this, the company are a strong Microsoft user, so a hands-on ability and knowledge in Microsoft is important (O365, Azure, SQL etc).

Currently, they utilise the MSP as an "outsourced" IT Manager, and this will now be your responsibility. The complexity of the tech side of the company is increasing and there are ever growing cyber threats (like many businesses). Reporting to the board, you will likely be coming from a strong Infrastructure Engineer background with skills across General Infrastructure and Microsoft as well as Cyber Security.

Key Skills and Experience:

** Strong Infrastructure Management experience - overseeing the design, implementation and management of IT infrastructure (hands-on knowledge)

** Strong technical skills in Microsoft Office 365, Azure, SQL, XML and general Cyber Security

** Ability to set the IT budget and work within it

** Keep up to date with industry best practice for security and efficiency, and implement process improvements

** Ability to implement Cybersecurity measures, ensuring compliance to strict industry standards

** Vendor management - cultivate and manage relationships with third-party IT vendors

** IT Support - provide leadership in user support services

** Work with IT and business leaders to develop overall applications roadmap in the context of the business strategy
