IT Infrastructure Engineer

Salary - Competitive

Location - Remote / Hybrid - Manchester/Leeds

Mon - Fri 9am - 5.30pm (Due to the Nature of the role these hours will be variable, and flexibility will be required to cover activities outside of core business hours (evenings & weekends) as required.)

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer To provide support for all IT infrastructure including all Data Centres, Servers & Networks. This is a Hybrid working role which will be based at either our Leeds or Manchester office, majority of days will though be Remote.

As an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer, you will provide 3rd line support for any escalated issues from the IT service desk.

You will have experience of providing 3rd line support and troubleshooting Active Directory based environments with a strong working knowledge of networking with:

  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to provide remote support
  • Team player willing to accept and suggest ideas
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Have a genuine interest of the IT sector with the ability to suggest and implement new technologies as they immerge.
  • To be prepared to work at different Simpson Millar locations when required to deliver the requirements of this role.
  • To be prepared to work variable hours when required to provide out of hours maintenance (patching, upgrades)

As an IT Infrastructure Engineer, you will have:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in supporting and maintaining IT infrastructures
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022
  • Capacity planning and optimisation
  • Microsoft Hyper V or equivalent experience
  • Active Directory
  • Microsoft Exchange
  • Clustering Technologies (Server Clusters, NLB)
  • Scripting and automation skills (Powershell)
  • Networking topologies (switches, VLAN trunking etc.)
  • LAN and WAN management
  • Firewall management.
  • Monitoring and managing the availability and scalability of resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, network storage systems.
  • IT Security including IDS and IPS systems.
  • SAN Management (Netapp preferred)
  • Azure & 365

  • Fortinet
  • Citrix (Xen Desktop & Xen Centre Preferred)
  • Microsoft System Centre
  • Private Cloud Management
  • Data Centre Management
  • SQL Server
  • Mimecast
  • Full UK driving license
