Interim Shipping & Freight Manager

We are actively seeking to engage a shipping & freight professionals for an exciting new opportunity as an Interim Shipping & Freight Manager working on a hybrid basis in Coventry!

Our client is a world-leading in-house manufacturing business who turnover in excess of £550m+ with a 9% YoY growth! The business export manufactured finished goods across the world through a mixture of sea, air and road freight. These goods are carried by third party carriers across various INCOTerms.

Description

As an Interim Shipping & Freight Manager you will be employed at the Coventry Head Office and Report into the on-site Shipping Director. Dependent on your experience you could be managing a small team of 2x Co-ordinator, mixing a commercial & operational workload. You will work a mixture of office and home working. You will also be responsible for the following areas:

• Coordination and leading of a team managing all sea, air & road import and export logistics and monitoring process
• Managing the contract and carrier management negotiations and key supplier metrics and KPI reporting.
• To manage individual responsible for the freight operation from receipt of customer bookings and arranging collections to booking cargo with carriers.
• Provide in-depth analysis of freight carriers across a network of around 600 providers, based on cost, pricing and service levels (along a data analytic team)
• To request and gather quotations from suppliers in a timely and efficient manner.
• Managing customs entries from USA, EU and the rest of the world, implementing procedures for inbound/outbound shipping.
• Liaising with the company's in-house department/s regarding incoming shipments in order to apply for customs entry in good time.
• Provide knowledge of customs clearance for specific variations on company's imports from USA, EU and the rest of the world.

Profile

The successful Interim Shipping & Freight Manager will have a large background in either road, sea or air freight operations over the last 3+ years and ideally come from a mixture of an operational / commercial background.

• 4+ years experience in International Shipping or Freight.
• Experienced with air, sea or road freight.
• Commutable to Coventry on a hybrid basis.
• Experienced with planning, pricing, quoting different methods of shipping.
• Commercial, as well as operational, acumen.
• Ability to complete a minimum of a 1x year FTC
