Job Opportunity: 3rd Line Engineer

Location: Cirencester - Commutable from Swindon, Cheltenham, Gloucester

Salary: £35,000-£50,000

The Role: Seeking a skilled 3rd Line Support Engineer for a customer site in Corsham, Wiltshire. This role enhances existing skills, addressing evolving technology needs, with a focus on Windows Server and Virtualization technologies. Regular UK travel offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of our clients and organization.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Proactive Infrastructure Monitoring: Utilize tools such as PRTG and Auvik for continuous server infrastructure monitoring, responding promptly to anomalies and alarms.

  • Technical Escalation: Provide expert resolution to escalated infrastructure queries, addressing hardware-related faults, investigating performance issues, and troubleshooting virtualization challenges.

  • Configuration and Management of Server Environments: Manage diverse server environments, including Windows Server and Linux-based systems, ensuring optimization for performance and security.

  • Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM): Conduct System Health Checks and Physical Inspections for ongoing infrastructure health and resilience.

  • Project-Based Installation and Deployment: Collaborate on-site for project-based installations and deployments, ensuring seamless integration of new equipment and systems.

Key Skills, Experience, Qualifications:

  • Windows server administration (ideally from 2019 onward - Microsoft Certification advantageous)
  • VMware and/or Nutanix configuration and administration, including VMs networking and datastores
  • Windows desktop management/administration (Windows 10)
  • Windows Build and Security Hardening using certified guides (e.g., CI Security, CyberEssentials)
  • Audit and Documentation experience, covering Physical Server Builds, NAS/Storage, Windows Server VM/OS, and Desktop OS configurations
  • Linux Administration Experience (advantageous but not essential)
