We have this new and ambitious position waiting for you, where you will maintain and coordinate the Microsoft System Centre Suite. This is a for a very large Defence IT site, working as part of a very solid and established team. We need a consistent track record of working in a windows server support role with a good understanding of SCOM and MECM (SCCM). As our senior infrastructure engineer, you will have a hunger to drive monitoring improvements, learn, develop and see through positive change.

This role could also suit a strong Server Engineer wanting to further develop their skills.

You do need to be eligible for DV Clearance for this position.

Based 2 to 3 days on site in Portsmouth and 2 days from home.

What you'll be doing:

  • ?Provide proactive server monitoring using current configured and deployed tooling
  • Triage of alerts and remedy
  • Log Incidents for faults captured
  • Monitoring dashboards using configured and deployed tooling
  • Create and deploy software and software update packages in MECM (SCCM)
  • Create and deploy operating system images using MECM (SCCM)
  • Test and document process and procedure
  • Ensure system configuration, performance and availability
  • Produce and maintain user documentation for the tooling systems

What you’ll bring:

  • Solid experience within a windows server support role
  • Experience with System Centre Operations Manager (SCOM)
  • Experience with System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM)
  • Experience using WSUS or another patching strategy (offline would be a bonus)

It would be great if you had:

  • Experience with VMWARE
  • Experience using dashboards in VROPS
  • Experience with SQL Reporting Services
  • Shell scripting in any language preferably Powershell
  • Fault logging with a ticketing system
