Information Security Engineer

Salt's Local Government client in the north of England is looking for an Information Security Engineer on a 1-year Fixed Term Contract. This position can be worked remotely and previous experience working in the Public Sector is desirable but not essential.

Purpose of the post

· To assist in bringing the organisation's information security risks under explicit management control.

· Supporting the Information Security Manager with technical security compliance advice, security planning andother related issues.

· To support the organisation's nominated Information Security Responsible Officer (SIRO) and Information Security Manager making appropriate technical and operational recommendations and reporting on potential and actual breaches.

Specific accountability

· Investigate suspected and actual breaches of security and undertake reporting/remedial action as required. Maintain a log of any incidents and remedial recommendations and actions. Continuously assess the shortfall between both actual security measures in place and being effective and those established at a policy level thus highlighting deficiencies for remedial action.

· Contributes to strategic decision making with responsibility to provide advice on significant procurements which may have a major impact on the corporate communications infrastructure

· Provides expert professional advice on major projects and technical issues to managers, colleagues and users to ensure a full understanding of the security implications, risks and benefits surrounding these.

· As a Technical Expert who proactively recommends and develops solutions to security issues.

· Responsible for providing detailed monthly reports to senior management to ensure compliance with corporate wide licensing agreements and advising/interpreting possible issues/breaches

· Provide advice and take action, where necessary, in response to Audit findings and recommendations in respect of information security.

· Provide expert advice to the organisation on information risk analysis/management.

· Conduct technical reviews of policies on an annual basis
