Import Coordinator

Location: Chessington and Epsom Locations.

Job Type: Full-time (Office based)Working

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30 am - 17:00 pm

We are seeking a dedicated Import Coordinator to join our team. The role involves processing customs clearances, streamlining and monitoring inbound shipments for key clients, and liaising with various stakeholders. This position is ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to managing import processes.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Process and perform Customs Clearances for shipments.
  • Freight Coordination: Manage the transportation of goods, coordinating with carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics partners to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Documentation: Prepare and manage shipping documentation, including bills of lading, export/import documentation, customs clearance forms, and other necessary paperwork.
  • Supply Chain Management: Collaborate with suppliers, warehouses, and distribution centers to optimize supply chain efficiency and reduce transportation costs.
  • Compliance: Stay updated with international shipping regulations, customs laws, and trade compliance requirements to ensure adherence to all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Cost Management: Monitor and negotiate freight rates, manage transportation budgets, and seek cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.
  • Inventory Management: Coordinate inventory levels to align with shipping schedules, avoiding stockouts or excess inventory situations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in import/logistics/freight coordination or a similar role within the logistics industry.
  • Familiarity with customs clearance processes and documentation.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively liaise with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proficient in the use of IT systems relevant to shipping and customs procedures.
