Position – Hydraulic Modeller

Location – Anywhere in the UK (Remote Working)

Salary - £35,000 - £55,000 (Dependant on experience/level) A 37.5-hour week.

Client

My client is a specialist flood risk, drainage, and water management consultancy firm. Operating nationally but adopting a home working model and staff are located throughout the UK with an expectation of meeting up twice a year.

Clients include property developers and investors, renewable energy companies, industrial and leisure clients, housebuilders, insurers, legal firms, planning consultants and architects, technical consultants, and private clients.

Services include undertaking flood risk assessments, developing surface and foul water drainage strategies, preparing detailed drainage designs, undertaking sequential, exception and justification assessments, preparing flood warning and evacuation plans, and undertaking Environmental Impact Assessments.

The role

We now have a fantastic opportunity for a Hydraulic Modeller to join an expanding team, and this is a permanent role.

The role will include:

  • Preparing fee proposals preparing channel survey specifications and liaising with survey subcontractors.
  • Developing hydraulic models to assess flood risk; this may include fluvial, tidal overtopping and/or breach analysis.
  • Reviewing and developing (where required) hydraulic models developed by others.
  • Estimating model inflows using industry standard hydrological flood estimation methods.
  • Undertaking site visits to ensure that a hydraulic model appropriately represents the key hydraulic characteristics of the site and locality. AND More..

Essential Criteria

  • Experienced user of the Flood Modeller/Estry/Tuflow modelling packages
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering/science, Geography (with a physical base), or related discipline.
  • You will have experience of hydrological flood estimation methods (WINFAP and ReFH2)
  • Competent user of GIS.
  • You should have experience of developing others by providing technical guidance and training, or have a desire to do so, and to provide broader technical leadership to others in the team as part of the role.
