So not just lining into policy and procedure and jumping ahead, when simple common sense will prevail! Then this is the opportunity for you.

Being part of this burgeoning people and culture team will see you guiding managers who are brilliant at what they do, to help their people be brilliant at what they do. You’ll be able to look at the analytics and management information to be able to show the business what the patterns and trends are around the usual metrics and help them make informed decisions about what’s needed for the future in terms of their people and culture offering for employee relations.


Hybrid working with two days a week working from home and an office based in the city centre that’s a really vibrant and exciting environment. Coupled with some great people around you, reporting into a Head of People who will give you their time when needed but give you full autonomy to deliver what you need to and at the helm a Director of People who is passionate about empowering others you can rest assured you’re being part of a best in class people team.

The project is initially three months but what happens from there is still to be seen so there is every opportunity to showcase what you can do in that time. What we need from you is and credibility, gravitas and the ability to really listen and truly hear managers and support them through leading their people effectively.

Salary and benefits

  • Hours of work – 37.5 hours a week, 7.5 hours a day between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday
  • Location –Leicester – 3 days a week working in the office
  • Pension – Salary sacrifice scheme. Enrolment is 3% employee and 6% employer
  • Holidays – 25 days plus bank holidays (pro rata)

Role overview:

1. A solid understanding of HR principles, including employment law, policies, and procedures, to effectively advise and guide managers and employees.

2. Employee Relations Skills: The ideal candidate will have experience in handling various employee relations situations, such as disciplinary issues, grievances, and performance reviews, and should be able to provide support in these meetings.

3. Analytical and Proactive Approach: The ability to proactively identify trends and provide support and coaching to managers to improve people management capability and performance is essential.

About you

1. HR Expertise: Includes having proven HR experience or a relevant qualification (CIPD Level 5), and staying updated on employment legislation.

2. Communication and Relationship Building: Encompasses strong communication skills, experience advising senior managers, and the ability to build relationships across all levels.

3. Organisational Skills: Involves organisational and administrative skills, as well as the ability to plan, organise, and prioritise workload effectively.

4. Problem-Solving and Strategic Thinking: Encompasses being detail-oriented with a strategic perspective, having the ability to solve problems effectively, and managing conflicting priorities.

5. Results-Oriented and Professionalism: Includes being driven, determined, and results-focused, as well as having a commercially focused mindset and maintaining an enthusiastic, approachable, and professional demeanour.
