Histopathology/Locum Biomedical Scientist Band 6 - Manchester
My client based in Manchester is looking for an experienced Band 6 Histopathology Biomedical Scientist for a locum contract, starting as soon as possible.
Requirements:
- HCPC Registered as a Biomedical Scientist
- Experience in a Lab environment
- Good communication skills
- IBMS Specialist Diploma or equivalent in Cellular Pathology
- Knowledge and experience of Quality Management Systems in pathology
- Extensive knowledge of the work of a Histopathology Department
- Extensive post-registration experience in Histopathology
- A sound understanding of basic physiology, pathology and scientific principles relevant to Histopathology
- Good analytical skills
- Cellular pathology experience
- Evidence of CPD
- Competence and experience in:
- Embedding
- Microtomy
- Special stains techniques
- Frozen sections
- Immunohistochemistry
- Experience of operating, troubleshooting and maintaining complex laboratory equipment
Awareness of ISO 15189 - Evidence and knowledge of in depth Histological practice and theory.
Evidence of post-registration experience in Histopathology. - Good understanding of basic physiology, pathology and scientific principles relevant to Histopathology
- Good understanding of Health and Safety requirements within the scope of practice
Basic IT knowledge - IBMS accredited Biomedical Sciences degree (or other degree accredited with IBMS)
Current HCPC registration - IBMS Specialist Diploma in Cellular Pathology or equivalent level of knowledge
