Applications are invited for the post of Healthcare Scientist Associate Practitioner for the UK NEQAS for Molecular Genetics/GenQA. The UK National External Quality Assessment Service (UK NEQAS) is a national organisation facilitating optimal patient care by providing comprehensive assessments for the wide range of activities involved in the delivery of genomic services. This is an excellent opportunity to join GenQA which is a collaboration between the Cytogenomic External Quality Assessment Service (CEQAS) based in Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Oxford and UK NEQAS for Molecular Genetic based in the Department of Laboratory Medicine at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. GenQA provides genomic External Quality Assessment (EQA) and educational tools to participants globally

We are seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the team in this internationally respected EQA centre. The post holder will provide the molecular based sample handling and aid in the continual assessment of the quality of DNA extracted from blood and tumour samples. The post holder will be expected to rise to the challenges associated with the delivery of assessing the standard of service of laboratories. They will have the opportunity to work with blood pathology tumour samples and DNA to evaluate the quality of molecular laboratory testing and will support the administration of the distributions and assessments.

Applicants should be educated to SCQF Level 8 e.g. HND in Biological Science or NVQ4 or equivalent level of knowledge and ideally have experience of molecular biology genetics and pathology. Informal enquiries are welcome and should be directed to Dr Sandi Deans (telephone; email ).
