Position will be ongoing until a permanent candidate is sourced. The role can either be contract or temp to perm.
Based within the Corporate Safety team working throughout the district you will carry out
audits, inspections and staff training sessions which are aimed at ensuring compliance with health
and safety legislation and best practice across the operational activity of the Council.
This will involve developing excellent working relationships with the service
managers and staff as you review, consult over and redraft operational risk assessments and procedures
and recommend improved safety processes and safe systems of work.
You will also co-ordinate the employee health surveillance activity in relation to HAV, audio and night work screening; with authority to either take direct action or escalate non-compliance to reduce risks as appropriate, you will be
responsible for embedding a robust approach to safe working practices.
NEBOSH General or equivalent
Solid H&S experience ideally within local authority or similar
