We are looking for a permanent Head Ranger to lead the daily operations of Grafham Water Park.
This is a key role in the management and development of the park, we are looking for an exceptional individual to lead on our premier trout and predator fishery, deliver excellent customer service, ensure the highest standards of health and safety, develop and deliver events and increase the popularity of this fantastic park.
Reporting to the Park Manager in this varied and challenging role you will maintain our park infrastructure, ensuring park buildings, land and gardens are in a clean and safe condition. You will identify workloads and plan and procure materials for maintenance. You will also carry out a programme of safety inspections, deliver capital improvement schemes and plan and organise events to attract visitors to the park whilst maintaining good relationships with numerous stakeholders.
As Head Ranger you will train and coach the team, plan workloads and rotas and have line management responsibility for four permanent Rangers. You will also coordinate a team of volunteer fishery bailiffs and conservation volunteers. You will manage the three car parks as well as enforcing bylaws. In addition to this you'll have a keen eye for detail to ensure that the park is well presented to ensure our visitors have an enjoyable experience which meets VAQUAS and Green Flag standards.
A key role for the Head Ranger is to manage the internationally recognised fishery. This will include managing fish deliveries, maintaining a fleet of fifty fishing boats, evaluating catch data and compiling fishing reports and information for social media. You'll use social media to manage and promote the site for fishing competitions and ensure adequate water safety for anglers.
To join us, you'll need to be educated to HND level or equivalent in a rural/leisure/countryside/fishery management discipline or have a strong background in rural leisure or fishery management.
You'll need to have knowledge of fishery management, event management, countryside customer service, front line management and budgetary management. You will have strong leadership experience, a commercial approach and experience in budget and project management.
With a strong focus on customer service and health and safety and an interest in sustainable communities and the environment, you will help contribute to the corporate brand through high standards of site management. Most essential is a flexible, positive and proactive approach to work coupled with an ability to work as part of a multi skilled team and undertake physical tasks.
Grafham Water Park is a 7 day per week operation and all our staff are public facing. A willingness to work unsocial hours and regular weekends and bank holidays is essential to the role.
You are required to have a full driving licence for this role, if successful the status of your driving licence will be checked.
