Leading and delivering the intermediary and direct Mortgage sales and distribution strategy for one of the UK’s longest-established Building Societies.

About the role.

This role requires you to be proactive, determined, and self-motivated so that sales objectives and targets are achieved in a compliant manner.

Your objective is to build the mortgage portfolio in line with corporate objectives. You will achieve this by proactively building and maintaining relationships with brokers and mortgage clubs, but also by reviewing the market to recommend innovative new products, criteria and marketing.

You will be leading and delivering the intermediary and direct mortgage sales strategy. A significant percentage of marketing resource is allocated to support your activity.

This is a senior leadership role within the organisation reporting to the CEO. It will see you chair meetings with directors and key executive members and regularly present to the Board.

This is a hybrid role. You will be expected to regularly visit and attend meetings at the offices in East Yorkshire whilst also travelling nationally creating new business.

About the Company

Our client is one of the UK’s longest-established Building societies. In terms of mortgages, it’s focus is on customers that may not fit the standard lending criteria offered by the larger banks. Supported by a very experienced manual underwriting team, they can assess customers individually. Key areas of current mortgage lending include, for example, lending into retirement, self build, or self employed. They pride themselves in offering an outstanding level of personal customer service, passionate about maintaining that personal touch.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A passion for sales with a proven track record of achieving/exceeding sales objectives and targets.
  • Self-motivated and results driven individual with a proactive and determined approach to increase the Society’s intermediary and direct mortgage business.
  • Excellent leadership skills and experience of running a sales team preferred.
  • Proven experience of devising and executing successful intermediated mortgage strategies.
  • Ideally Ce-Map qualified
  • An excellent understanding/knowledge of the residential mortgage market.
  • Current network of residential mortgage intermediary contacts
  • Able to develop and maintain exceptional relationships and contacts with mortgage intermediaries.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and to embrace the principles of Treating Customers Fairly
  • Strong strategic report writing and presentation skills.

We therefore need you to have experience of:

  • The broker and retail mortgage market in UK, particularly the segment that requires manual underwriting.
  • Proven experience of managing internal and external stakeholders to achieve sales targets.
  • Outstanding report writing and presentation abilities
  • Credit risk & policy controls.

What you get:

  • Base salary is up to £60k (dependant on experience)
  • With up to 30% bonus opportunity.
  • 28 days Holiday.
  • Mileage at £0.45/mile
