Location: West of Suffolk

Salary: £60,000 to £70,000

We are seeking a Head of Logistics to manage day-to-day freight and inventory operations within the UK. This role is pivotal in ensuring the highest level of service for customers at the best possible price. The successful candidate will have a strong background in logistics, with a focus on outbound logistics and inventory management, and will be adept at developing market strategies in collaboration with the EMEA Freight Centre of Excellence (CoE).

Day to Day of the role:

Manage outbound freight to maximise service levels while minimising costs.

Lead outbound road freight tenders with support from the EMEA CoE.

Collaborate with the EMEA CoE to optimise inbound/international freight.

Guide the EMEA CoE on tendering for inbound freight.

Oversee the accurate and timely administration/transaction of stock in both third-party and managed locations.

Manage relationships with 3PL suppliers and negotiate haulage rates with carriers.

Set, monitor, and achieve KPIs within the logistics department.

Prioritise and manage projects, ensuring compliance with customs procedures and safety standards.

Direct, train, and manage the logistics team, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience in the UK freight environment, including import and export processes.

• Proven people management experience within a complex import/export logistics setting.

• Strong leadership and resource management skills, with the ability to motivate and coach team members.

• Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, with effective negotiation capabilities.

• Working knowledge of Transport Management Systems and up-to-date knowledge of customs procedures and compliance.

• Project management skills, with a track record of delivering cost-critical projects and managing budgets.
