Head of Department – Family Law
Full Time, Permanent
£55,000 - £65,000 DOE + Extensive Benefits
Chester City Centre (Hybrid and flexible working arrangements)

Our client boasts a heritage of 40+ years in the Cheshire region with a modern Chester City Centre office offering a range of bespoke legal services. This is an opportunity for an experienced solicitor with expertise covering the full family law spectrum and leadership attributes to pursue an exciting role of Head of Department.

Main duties and responsibilities:
  • Providing legal advice and representation to clients regarding their family law matters
  • Managing a caseload of family law cases from start to finish, including drafting legal documents and attending court hearings
  • Negotiating settlements and agreements for clients
  • Providing mediation and dispute resolution services
  • Keeping up-to-date with changes in family law regulations and case precedents
  • Keeping clear and accurate records of cases and consultations
  • Building and maintaining positive professional relationships with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders
  • A good understanding of business development and managing departmental finances.
  • Any prior experience with managing and mentoring a team would be advantageous.

Requirements:
  • Qualified as solicitor / CILEX qualified with at least 5 years PQE
  • Proven experience of working towards and meeting chargeable and billing targets
  • Business acumen and the willingness to network
  • Resilience with the ability to embrace change
  • Leadership experience would be desirable.
