They now have the opportunity for a Maintenance Fitter - Ground Service Equipment (HGV/Heavy Plant Mechanic) to join them at Birmingham Airport (BHX) to service and maintain all Ground Service Equipment (GSE), ensuring their departments and other business units are continually supported with safe and reliable GSE that meets all local and CAA regulations (CAP-790).
Operating and driving all types of GSE, motorised and non-motorised, and responding to maintenance requests, you will provide trouble-shooting and diagnostic assessment of GSE faults, modify and overhaul power plant, drive-train, brake, electric and hydraulic systems and prepare and paint ground support equipment. Removing unserviceable GSE and responding to emergency service calls, you will collect spares and materials required for maintenance and repairs, complete documentation, fuel /de-fuel equipment and keep the workshop and equipment clean and serviceable at all times.
The successful candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience in HGV / Heavy Plant / Construction equipment and a good level of mechanical/electrical engineering experience, along with the flexibility to work various shifts and ability to speak and understand the English language. With a full driving licence and excellent communication skills, you will possess at least three GCSE’s / O Level or Leaving Cert (and equivalent) and have an accredited qualification in the functional area. Additionally, you will be someone who can follow processes and procedures, is able to travel to the airport at times when public transport isn’t available and willing to work in inclement weather.
Previous experience working in an aviation environment would be an advantage, as would knowledge of computer maintenance programs, e.g. Maximo/IMS-Fleet Maintenance Pro and Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
