We are searching for an experienced Data Engineer someone who has an extensive background working within GIS with proven experience of conducting Spatial Analysis using specialist GIS software, including, FME, ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS.

Experience of FME is highly desirable and a distinct bonus.

This role is offered on a 12-month fixed-term basis and comes with an extensive benefits package and a very competitive salary.

In this role you will be responsible for the following: -

  • Establishing and understanding the format, quality, content, and sources of data.
  • Import data from multiple types of data sources.
  • Create custom outputs for other team members based on custom SQL queries.
  • Compare large datasets such as postcodes and UPRNs.
  • Create standard output requirements.
  • Feed into process and tools improvements.


Your role will involve:

  • The analysis and import of datasets to establish how to convert data sources to standard schema via schema mapping.
  • You will run regular standard jobs to create dashboards and export files.
  • You will run SQL commands on imported data in a database.
  • You will maintain standard processes.


About You

To be successful in this Data Engineer role you will be an effective communicator, someone who has the flair to liaise with both internal and external customers and suppliers (in-person, on the phone and via email), someone with the ability to drive projects forward.

You will also have/be:

  • Spatial Analysis experience using GIS specialist software, such as, FME (Feature Manipulation Engine), ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS (in particular FME).
  • Proficient with database programming languages such as SQL, R or Python.
  • Building, managing and analysing large and complex reference datasets in relational database environments (e.g. PostGIS / PostgreSQL).
  • Developing innovative algorithms and models for location/geospatial & address data to solve business problems (i.e. address cleansing of customer data to provide an accurate address match).
