Michael Page Logistics are supporting a client in Reading with the appointment of a General Manager of Operations.

Client Details

Our client offers specialist Logistics services for a wide range of goods across defence, nuclear and medical.

Description

In the role of General Manager you will have overall responsibility for transport function and planning of the entire operation. This will include client relationships and the cost-effective and timely delivery of services. You will drive continuous improvement across the business and further develop integrated transport solutions that deliver a premium and cost-effective service to our customers. You will have overall responsibility for producing, agreeing & managing the Operational and Fleet budget.

Profile

We are looking to speak with candidates that meet the following criteria:

  • Good working knowledge of the dangerous goods or highly regulated sectors
  • Significant operational experience in both UK Transport and freight forwarding
  • The ability to maximise the financial performance of the team and to enourage the growth of the business
  • An effective communicator at all levels with the personal motivation and confidence to have a positive impact within the company and with clients
  • Significant experience in developing management teams within a similar complex logistics operation
