General Foreman - Civils

£240-£260 per day

Duration - 8 months approximately

Eastleigh, Hampshire

Reed Recruitment (Southampton branch) are recruiting for a groundworks foreman for a well established national civil engineering firm that  focuses on groundworks, infrastructure, drainage, surfacing and road works.

The role:

  • Supervise and lead a team of groundworkers, delegating tasks and ensuring that work is carried out effectively.
  • Plan and organize groundworks activities according to project timelines and specifications.
  • Conduct site assessments and surveys to determine the scope of work and identify potential challenges.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with project requirements
  • Oversee excavation, backfilling, and compaction activities to ensure proper site preparation
  • Manage the installation of drainage systems, including pipes, culverts, and manholes.
  • Monitor the installation of foundations and footings, ensuring accuracy and adherence to engineering drawings.
  • Supervise the placement of concrete and other materials, ensuring proper curing and finishing.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to ensure that work meets industry standards and client expectations.
  • Manage equipment and material resources efficiently, coordinating deliveries and maintenance as needed.
  • Provide training and guidance to groundworkers, promoting skill development and adherence to best practices.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in groundworks construction, in a supervisory or foreman role.
  • In-depth knowledge of groundworks techniques, materials, and equipment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to address challenges and make decisions under pressure.
  • Thorough understanding of health and safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various job sites as required.

To be successful in your application for this role you will have and be able to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:

  • You will need a current and valid Blue Skilled Worker CSCS card or above.
  • SMSTS/SSSTS
  • Any of the following qualifications would be an additional benefit, plant tickets, abrasive wheels, manual handling, streetworks first aid etc...
